A fabulous Victorian style lavaliere necklace adorned with a slender crescent-shaped pendant with a leafy branch behind topped with a butterfly. It’s decorated with a colourful array of cabochon cultured opals which display green, blue, pink and orange hues.

Insect and Celestial jewellery was at the height of popularity in the late 19^th Century as many were left longing to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world after the Industrial Revolution. This brought about an abundance of romanticised moon and butterfly pieces, decorated with colourful gemstones to counteract the more mechanised, industrialisation of modern design. 

The pendant and chain are fashioned in sterling silver and have been given an 18ct yellow gold finish. It’s very pretty and would make a wonderful gift.
