DATE: Art Deco, c.1925
Cool Art Deco period necklace very much modelled in the Egyptian Revival style, circa 1925. Its triangular(ish) profile features a real scarab beetle, iridescent green in colour, with diamond and peridot paste gemstone-set wings and an arrow shaped motif above. Complete with its original fine fancy-link chain.
The iridescent green scarabs set into Egyptian Revival jewellery (there was another wave of Egyptomania during the 19th century) were actually imported from South America. Egyptian scarabs are a dull brown/black colour; a far less attractive (and presumably abundant) gem material.
